It's always a pleasure to come to Brasil to see the in-laws. The kids arrive and become Brazilian again, and Mrs B is in her element. It was even more exciting this time as Flint has opened an office in São Paulo.
As usual, we arranged to visit family in Rio. We were 50km out of SP, and the rain started. And it didn't stop. The worst rain, and highest number of fatalities in Brazilian living history. We made it to a resort up the coast and holed up for a few days. Rio was a disaster zone and completely impenetrable. We turned back to São Paulo via Ilhabela and enjoyed the final days of our holiday. Then a volcano in Iceland started spewing ash into the sky....
My sister-in-law made it to London two hours before Heathrow closed. And us? 17 days before the first available flight.
I think I'm in a disaster movie.
